AMY CLARKE, Artist

Amy Clarke’s painterly background has been steeped in her direct response to the land in which she grew up on a property in south-west Queensland - between St George and Roma, and later on the Sunshine Coast hinterland, near Noosa. Having moved away and lived in the city for twenty years she has returned to a rural environment which she is discovering to be her spiritual home. Clarke finds a translation which is not always literal, as in Elisabeth Cumming's philosophy of a deep love and respect for the landscape, ' more the spirit of the place'.  She also uses the landscape as a metaphor to express and respond to the world.

Clarke is an emerging Australian artist and has been exhibiting for ten years.  She is represented by several galleries on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast and in Brisbane and has had successful exhibitions in Sydney and Brisbane.   Her work is in private and corporate collections in Australia and overseas.
